Why Pleated?

More Media in the Same Footprint

The pleated structure increases effective filtration area within the same collector envelope, helping reduce air-to-cloth loading in selected applications.

Retrofit Value

No Full Collector Replacement

Pleated bags can be used as a retrofit option when the existing baghouse is limited by filter area, pressure drop or maintenance time.

Maintenance

Shorter & Easier to Handle

Many pleated bag designs are shorter than conventional bags, reducing contact with abrasive inlet dust and making changeouts easier.

Use pleated bags when the collector needs more filtration area without major equipment changes.

A pleated filter bag is not just a folded version of a standard felt bag. It must match airflow, dust loading, pulse cleaning, tube sheet fit and available installation clearance.

  • Common Goalslower pressure drop, longer service interval, easier changeout
  • Collector Typemainly pulse jet baghouses and retrofit systems
  • Installationtop load, bottom load, oval or round configurations
  • Replacement Methodby old size, sample, drawing, part number or photos
  • Engineering Checkairflow, dust type, pulse energy and sealing style

Tube Sheet Fit

Confirm cell plate hole diameter, gasket compression and snap band or molded top dimensions before production.

Built-in Core / Cage Review

Some pleated bags replace both bag and cage, while other designs require support. Always confirm the structure.

Pleat Pack Clearance

Review pleat depth, pleat count, dust release space and distance from inlet gas stream.

General Dust

Spunbond Polyester

Durable pleatable media for common dry dust applications where temperature and chemistry are moderate.

Fine / Sticky Dust

PTFE Membrane

Surface filtration option for improved cake release, fine dust capture and selected moisture-sensitive processes.

Special Duty

PPS / Aramid / Conductive

Used after reviewing temperature, chemical exposure, static risk and dust combustibility considerations.

Pleated bags are powerful, but not automatically correct for every baghouse.

A serious product page should explain limitations. This reduces poor-fit inquiries and builds engineering trust.

  • Heavy Sticky Dustmay blind pleats if dust cannot release
  • High Moisturerequires media and coating review
  • Very High Temperaturerequires aramid, PPS or special review
  • Weak Pulse Cleaningmay need valve, air pressure or nozzle review
  • Bottom Entry Limitsupward velocity and dropout zone must be checked

Media Selection

Select pleated bag media by dust type, temperature, moisture and emission target.

Pleated media must balance filtration efficiency, pleat stability, fatigue resistance and cake-release behavior. The wrong media can shorten service life even if the size is correct.

Retrofit Workflow

From standard filter bags to confirmed pleated bag replacement.

A good pleated bag RFQ should confirm more than diameter and length. It should review fitment, airflow, dust behavior, sealing method and cleaning performance.

Check Collector

Confirm pulse jet type, top/bottom access, tube sheet and available filter length.

Measure Old Filter

Send diameter, length, top style, bottom style, photos and old part number.

Review Dust

Share dust type, moisture, temperature, abrasion and pressure drop history.

Select Media

Choose polyester, PTFE membrane, conductive, aramid or PPS after condition review.

Quote & Sample

Confirm quantity, packing, sample, label and production lead time.

How to Measure

Measure the old filter before requesting a pleated bag retrofit quote.

Many buyers have old collectors with unclear model numbers. A clear measurement block turns uncertain traffic into qualified pleated bag RFQs.

1
Measure tube sheet holeConfirm the sealing diameter, not just the old bag body size.
2
Photograph top styleSnap band, molded top, flange, gasket or special cap must be identified.
3
Check pleat clearanceReview spacing, inlet direction and whether dust can release from pleats.
4
Tell us the problemHigh pressure drop, abrasion, emissions or labor cost point to different solutions.

Best RFQs include outside diameter, overall length, top style, bottom style, pleat depth, media, dust type, temperature and old-filter photos.

Standard vs Pleated

Compare standard bag-and-cage sets with pleated replacements.

Pleated bags can increase filter area and simplify changeouts, but fitment, cleaning energy, dust release and temperature still need to be reviewed before conversion.

Decision PointStandard Filter Bag + CagePleated Filter BagWhat to Confirm
Filtration AreaLimited by bag diameter and lengthPleated media increases effective area in the same footprintMedia area, pleat depth and air-to-cloth target
Installation LaborBag and cage handled separatelyMay replace bag and cage as a single assembly depending on designTop/bottom access and sealing design
Abrasion RiskLong bags may sit closer to inlet abrasion zoneShorter designs may create more drop-out space below filtersInlet position, dust velocity and bag length
Pressure DropCan rise when filter area is insufficient or dust cake is hard to releaseMore area may reduce loading and cleaning frequency in suitable casesAirflow, dust loading and pulse cleaning condition

Industry Applications

Pleated filter bags for dust collectors across demanding industrial applications.

Each industry has different dust release, temperature, abrasion and emission requirements. Share dust details and existing filter photos for a better media recommendation.

Common Problems

Common problems that point to a pleated retrofit review.

1
Pressure drop is too highReview media area, dust cake release, cleaning cycle, compressed air and pleated media option.
2
Bag life is short due to abrasionCheck filter length, inlet dust impact, cage condition and whether a shorter pleated design helps create a dropout zone.
3
Changeout takes too longReview one-piece pleated replacement, access direction and sealing style for maintenance reduction.
4
Dust emissions are hard to controlReview PTFE membrane, fine-fiber media, gasket seal and tube sheet fit.

Request a Quote

Send your pleated bag specs for engineering review.

For retrofit projects, photos of the old filter, tube sheet, collector access direction and dust condition are often enough for initial review. Samples or drawings are recommended for special constructions.

    FAQ

Pleated filter bag FAQ for retrofit purchasing.

    What are pleated filter bags?

Pleated filter bags are dust collector replacement filters using pleated media to increase effective filtration area inside a baghouse. Depending on the design, they may replace a traditional filter bag and cage or require a compatible support structure.

Can pleated filter bags replace standard filter bags and cages?

In many pulse jet baghouses, yes. However, the replacement must be checked by tube sheet size, access direction, sealing style, available length, pulse cleaning design and dust condition.

What information do you need to quote pleated filter bags?

Send outside diameter, overall length, top style, bottom style, media if known, dust type, temperature, quantity, old filter photos, drawing, sample or OEM-style part number.

Which media is best for pleated bags?

Spunbond polyester is common for general dry dust. PTFE membrane, oleophobic/hydrophobic finish, conductive media, aramid and PPS may be selected after reviewing dust, moisture, temperature and chemical exposure.

Are pleated bags always better than standard filter bags?

No. Pleated bags are strong retrofit options when more filtration area, lower pressure drop, easier changeout or abrasion reduction is needed. Sticky dust, high moisture, high temperature or weak pulse cleaning may require special review.

Can you make OEM-style pleated bag replacements?

Yes. We can review old filters by photos, dimensions, samples, drawings or part numbers for identification and cross-reference purposes. Brand names should be used only for identification.

Can I order a sample before mass production?

Yes. Samples are recommended for first-time retrofit projects, special top/bottom structures, private label packaging or when the old filter specification is uncertain.
